Biography
Celia Sheridan joined the Irish Centre of Social Gerontology (ICSG), National University of Ireland, Galway in October 2019 as a PhD candidate. In the same year, Celia graduated with an MA in Gender, Globalisation and Rights from the Centre for Global Women’s Studies, also at NUIG. She has a strong interest in gender, exclusion and social relations and her PhD research is an investigation of the gendered exclusion from social relations in later life and the implications of major life events. This research is part of the GENDER-Net Plus funded cross-national research study entitled ‘A life-course perspective on the GENdered PATHways of exclusion from social relations in later life, and its consequences for health and wellbeing’. One of the aims of Celia’s research is to develop gender-sensitive policy recommendations with the potential to reduce exclusion from social relations in later life.
